James Koontz

James Koontz, age 41, of Clinton, passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital in Knoxville.

James lived for his girls and his wife Leann, who was his best friend since she was 15 years old.

He was a University of Tennessee football fan, and he loved the beach, camping, and fishing. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Clinton.

James was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gladys and Dub York, and JB and Irene Koontz; niece, Nicci Smith; father-in-law, Wayne Ferguson; aunt, Joyce Conaster; and uncle, Jeep York.

James is survived by his parents, Roy and Barbara Koontz of Knoxville; wife, Leann Koontz of Clinton; daughters, Haley Koontz, Chasity Koontz, JuliAnna Koontz, and Sidney Koontz, all of Clinton; sisters, Tracey Key and husband Robbie of Knoxville, and Tammy Smith and husband Greg of Knoxville; and mother-in-law, Deloris Dyer of Clinton. He also leaves behind numerous special nieces, nephews, and special great-nieces and nephews.

James’ family will receive his friends on Monday, Feb. 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. with his funeral service following at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Jones Mortuary with Dr. Mike Thompson officiating. His interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton.

Jones Mortuary in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements.

2 Corinthians 1:3: “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort.”
