Aline E. Messer

Aline E. Messer, age 96, a resident of Harriman, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the Heart Of Georgia Hospice Center in Perry, Ga.

Mrs. Messer was born Aug. 1, 1916, in Decatur, Ala. She has lived in Tennessee since 1954.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, a faithful Christian, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Oliver Springs.

Aline was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan L. Messer; by her parents, J.H. Eaton Sr. and Mattie Sandlin Eaton; by brothers, William Neal Eaton and J.H. “Sonny” Eaton; and by a sister, Audie Mae Woodruff.

Mrs. Messer is survived by a son, Bobby Ray Messer and wife Carolyn of Gulf Port, Miss.; by daughters, Linda Coker and husband Eddie of Oliver Springs, and Brenda Heard Kinnas and husband Mike of Perry, Ga.; by grandchildren, Bobby Ray Messer Jr. and wife Peaches of Gulf Port, Miss., Bonnie Johnson and husband J.T. of Villa Rica, Ga., Andrea Seymour and husband Brian of Gulf Port, Miss., Scott Coker and wife Cindy of Oliver Springs, Eric Coker and wife Sarah of Oliver Springs, Anthony Honeycutt and wife Karla of Haynesville, Ga, Denise Honeycutt of Perry, Ga., DeWayne Heard and wife Brittany of Perry, Ga., Scott Kinnas and wife Amy of Perry, Ga. Ginger Hirsch and husband Bob of Perry, Ga., Ben Kinnas and wife Donna of Perry; by great-grandchildren, Justin and Kristin Messer of Gulf Port, Shawn and Leslie Smith of Harriman, Tiffany and Matt Galyon of Nashville, Zachary Smith of Nashville, Rodney Coker, Lewis Coker and Zachary Coker of Oliver Springs, Bradley Bailey of Oliver Springs, Bradley Honeycutt and Christina of Gray, Ga., Alicia and Nick Chastine of Perry, Ga., Jessica and John Allison of Warner Robbins, Ga., Chris Honeycutt of Haynesville, Ga., Peyton Heard of Perry, Ga., and Hayden Heard of Perry, Ga., John Kinnas, Kameron Kinnas, Madeleine Kinnas of Perry, Ga., Taylor Sledge of Perry, Ga., Aiden Hirsch of Perry, Ga., Tony Johnson of Villa Rica, Ga., and Shawn Johnson of Villa Rica, Ga.; and by great-great-grandchildren, Cameron Messer, Cooper Messer, Levi Smith, Jenna Smith, Lydia Smith, MaKayla Honeycutt, Corbin Chastine, Lucas Chastine, Dylan Jones, and Mason Allison.

She is also survived by a sister, Lillie Mae Woodruff of Decatur, Ala., and by several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

The family will receive friends Friday, Feb. 1, between 5 and 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church Oliver Springs. The funeral will follow at 7 p.m. in the church with Pastor Barry Ariaz and Shawn Smith officiating.

Burial and graveside services will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, at 2 p.m. at the Swan Pond Cemetery in Harriman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church Oliver Springs, or the Heart of Georgia Hospice, 1120 Morningside Drive, Perry GA 31069.
