Luther M. ‘Ken’ Carroll

Luther M. “Ken” Carroll, age 89, a resident of Oliver Springs, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, at his home.

Mr. Carroll was born June 19, 1923, in Anderson County. He lived in the New River Community before moving to Oliver Springs in 1953.

He was a member of the Red Oak Baptist Church and a members of the Odd Fellows Lodge. Mr. Carroll was a retired coal miner who worked in the area coal mines until his retirement. Following his coal mining career, he worked in Oak Ridge at The Oak Ridger.

Luther was preceded in death by his parents, Sampson Carroll and Emily Jones Carroll; by brothers, Verlie, Rulie, and Jasper Carroll; by sisters, Elsie Brummitt and Ethel Daugherty; and by a grandson, Joseph Adam Carroll.

He is survived by his wife, Dolina Seiber Carroll of Oliver Springs; by his children, Lola Tucker and husband Ray of Petros, Brenda Bowling and husband Gary of Clinton, and Farrell Carroll and wife Oma Faye of Oliver Springs; by grandchildren, Mickey Tucker and wife Tonya of Petros, Greg Bowling of Clinton, Cynthia Cogswell and husband Gary of Clinton, Steven Carroll and wife Shenna of Clinton, and Billy Hall of Oliver Springs; by eight great-grandchildren; and by one great-great-granddaughter.

He is also survived by a brother, Lonas Carroll of Nashville; by a sister, Pearl Gibson of Kentucky; and by several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Jan. 19, between 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Genesis Hawkins officiating.

Burial and graveside services will be held Sunday, Jan. 20, at 2 p.m. at the Seiber Cemetery on New River.

Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
