Anderson County, Clinton, and Roane County have announced that their schools will be closed Friday due to the weather.
Anderson County said its central office staff will follow established procedures for bad weather, and Roane County Schools said its central office will be closed because of the weather conditions.
The weather this week has included persistent rain that has led to flooding and closed roadways and schools, as well as snow and ice that started Thursday.
The National Weather Service in Morristown said temperatures were expected to drop into the 20s Thursday night, possibly producing icy roads Friday morning. But temperatures were expected to climb back into the 40s by Friday afternoon, melting any remaining snow and ice, forecasters said.
