She was born Sept. 14, 1932, in Cumberland, Md., the daughter of Walter E. and Naomi Robinette Perdew.

Mrs. Martin retired from Methodist Medical Center, where she was a registered nurse. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. She was an avid University of Tennessee Volunteers fan and enjoyed traveling, antiques, and keeping up with other nursing retirees, but most important to her were her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Melvin Marion Martin Sr., and sister, Louise Dawson.

She is survived by sons, Thomas Clane Martin and special friend Carla Doughty of Oak Ridge, and Melvin Marion Martin Jr. and wife Katherine of Kingston; daughters, Kristie Zedler and husband Fred of Gaithersburg, Md., Karol Shaul and husband Andy of Collierville, Marie Martin of Nashville, and Susan Wilson and husband Kelly of Mt. Carmel; sisters, Jessie Madden of Wadsworth, Ohio, and Joan Ahern and husband Norman of Lewisburg, W.V.; nine grandchildren, Evan Zedler, Ginny Shaul, Mike Shaul and Margaret Shaul, Shawna Martin, Chelsea Martin and David Martin, Elyse Damphier and husband Kyle and Shane Wilson; and very dear friends, Lindsay Gheen, Sheldon Bible, Anne Pidkowicz and Dottie Brown.

The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, at Weatherford Mortuary, and the funeral was 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Stella Roberts officiating. The burial followed at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

The family asks that memorials be made to the American Heart Association, Go Red for Women, www.goredforwomen.org, or to First United Methodist Church.
