An Oak Ridge man had severe lacerations and had to be flown by a medical helicopter to a Knoxville hospital after he was allegedly stabbed in the chest while drinking with a friend in Claxton early Monday morning, an Anderson County Sheriff’s Department report said.
Alex J. Hamrick, 27, of Ulysses Lane, was flown by a Lifestar helicopter to the University of Tennessee Medical Center after the alleged stabbing at about 12:30 Monday morning on Cedar Circle, near the intersection of Clinton Highway and Edgemoor Road.
When he arrived at the scene, Anderson County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Christopher J. Conner said in the incident report, Hamrick was sitting on the roadway in front of the home, with blood on himself and his clothes and what appeared to be a stab wound near his left armpit. Hamrick alleged he had been stabbed in the chest by a 52-year-old man who lives at the Cedar Circle home.
Conner said the resident was sitting on a chair on the front porch of the home and had blood on his lips and chin. The man refused medical treatment and said he did not want to answer any questions, the report said. The case was turned over to an Anderson County Sheriff’s Department detective.
