Evelyn White Jenkins, age 94, of Lebanon, passed away Monday, Dec. 31, at NHC Health Care Center in Oak Ridge.

She was born June 10, 1918, in Wilson County, daughter of Joel Harris White and Myrtle Dillard White.

Mrs. Jenkins and her late husband, Conie F. Jenkins Sr., were longtime residents of Oak Ridge. They had been active members of Robertsville Baptist Church, and Mrs. Jenkins taught Sunday School classes for many years. After moving to Lebanon, she moved her church membership to Calvary Baptist Church.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, and decorating her home, but most of all she enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Jimmie Cheatham, Sarah “Peggy” Osborne, and Sue Austin Milner; brothers-in-law, Garland, Ponie Lee, Charlie, and James Jenkins; and sister-in-law, Polly George.

She is survived by son, Conie F. Jenkins Jr., of Oak Ridge; daughters, Joyce Dean Downs and husband Brad of Dallas, Texas, Jean Ashworth and husband Carl of Gallatin, and Terry Oakes and husband Tom of Knoxville; brothers, Charles Harris White and wife Geneva of Nashville, Buddy White and wife Doris of Carthage, and Henry White of Lebanon; brothers-in-law, Walter Jenkins and wife Linda, and Robert Jenkins and wife Ann, all of Murfreesboro; sister-in-law, Margaret Ann Agee and husband Jerry of Cedar Hill, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Nancy Dean, Jack Dean Jr. and wife Cheryl, Teena Lyons and husband Doug, Beth Dean and husband Kevin Pope, Daniel Dean and wife Stephanie, Mebra Kirby and husband Terry, Melanie McMurray and husband Grover, Mindy Hall and husband Mark, Michelle Warren and husband Ken, Nicole Jones and husband Brad, Justin Jenkins and wife Deena, and Travis Oakes; and 18 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. The family will also receive friends on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (CST) at Calvary Baptist Church in Lebanon. The funeral will follow at the church at 1 p.m. (CST) with Rev. Joe Johnson and Rev. W. L. Baker officiating. The burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
