Shirley Summers

Shirley Rutherford Summers, born March 3, 1946, went to be with Jesus for Christmas on Monday, Dec. 24.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Ethel Rutherford, and siblings, Don and Frank Rutherford and Jean Bolton.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Charles Summers; children, Nathanael Summers and his wife Melissa, and Tabitha Cannon and her husband John; grandchildren, Christopher, Breanna, Jeremiah, Tessa, and Emily (Joel); great-grandchildren, Elijah and Grace; siblings, Betty Burke, Libby Russo, Jerry Rutherford, Mary Wallace, and Doris Wooten; and several nieces and nephews.

Shirley’s family will receive friends Saturday, Dec. 29, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at First Apostolic Church in Knoxville. Her funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 7:30 p.m. with Bishop Billy and Pastor Mark McCool officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to First Apostolic Church, c/o Summers Family, 5020 Pleasant Ridge Road, Knoxville, TN 37912.

Jones Mortuary in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements.
