An Oliver Springs man was in stable condition at the University of Tennessee Medical Center on Wednesday evening after being ejected from a vehicle that overturned on Robertsville Road early Saturday morning, authorities said.

Jared M. Coker, 25, was westbound on Robertsville Road in a Cadillac SRX just west of Bermuda Road at about 3:20 a.m. Saturday when he veered right into on-street parking, striking an unoccupied Chrysler sedan.

Oak Ridge firefighter Casey Payne examines a Cadillac SRX that rolled over on Robertsville Road early Saturday after striking a parked car, ejecting the Cadillac’s driver.

After the collision, the vehicle Coker was driving swung left, sliding into a yard on Robertsville Road, overturning, and ejecting him through the sun roof, an Oak Ridge Police Department accident report said.

Coker ended up in a neighboring yard with incapacitating injuries, and the SRX came to rest partially in the neighboring driveway, the report said. Coker was taken by ambulance to the UT hospital.

The speed limit there is 25 mph I think. Hard to see how all that was possible at that speed.

Guess money can’t buy smarts. Not only speeding but it appears the driver was not using a safety belt.
