Roane State Community College sophomore basketball player Jassmine Franklin has signed to play for Carson-Newman College next season.

Franklin, a 6-1 post from Marion County High School in Lexington, Ky., is the team’s fourth-leading scorer (6.7 points per game) and leading rebounder (6.8 rebounds per game). She is also second on the team in assists per game (2.1).

“Jassmine is an excellent player, and she will be a great addition for Carson-Newman,” Roane State head coach Monica Boles said. “Her athleticism and her determination make her a force in the paint.”

Franklin is the latest Raiderette to sign with a four-year college. In the past year, Roane State has sent four players— Kayla Kimes (Tennessee Tech), Jill Herman and Kristina Stephens (University of the Cumberlands), and Takyah Gilmore (Carson-Newman) — to four-year schools.

Marion County High School is not in Lexington.

I’ll bet you meant to say that it’s in Lebanon, which is the county seat of Marion County, Kentucky.
