Bernadine Eleanor Elizabeth Moorehead

Bernadine Eleanor Elizabeth Moorehead, age 90, of Oak Ridge, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Methodist Medical Center.

She was born in Denver, Colo., on Aug. 14, 1922, to parents Francis and Lucille Ames Hynes.

She was a homemaker in Texas for many years before moving to Oak Ridge in 2011. Bernadine was a woman of great faith and she loved the Catholic Church. In recent years, she was unable to make it to Mass but faithfully watched services on television. She had a personality larger than herself and loved to make people laugh.

Survivors include her loving husband of 43 years, Luther Westley Moorehead of Oak Ridge; son, Robert Watson (Carol) of Fayetteville, Ga.; and daughters, Janet Fritter (Lewis) of Oak Ridge, Melody Carter (Bill) of Helotis, Texas; and Kathy Corona (David), Apple Valley, Calif. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial mass was held Monday, Dec. 10, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oak Ridge. Father Dustin Collins conducted the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s TN, Inc., PO Box 10088, Knoxville, TN 37939-9910.
