Henrietta Ramsey Hendrickson

Henrietta Ramsey Hendrickson, age 90, of Knoxville, passed away Monday, Dec. 3.

She was born Dec. 18, 1921, in Morristown, the daughter of William Nelson Ramsey and Margaret Alice Robinette Ramsey.

Mrs. Hendrickson retired from Union Carbide Corporation, where she was a computer programmer and worked in the Radiation Shielding Information Center. She also worked as an intern for the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Austria.

She was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church, where she was the media center director, a member of the ’43 Club, the Canasta Club and a member of Clan Ramsey. She was also past president of the Oak Ridge AARP #625.

Mrs. Hendrickson was a weekly visitor to the Cardiac Rehab Center. She enjoyed traveling and was also past president of the Oak Ridge Toastmistress Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Frank, William, and Hillary Ramsey; and sister, Oneida Ramsey Line.

She is survived by son, John Hendrickson and wife Marjory of Oak Ridge; daughters, Elizabeth Tilley and husband Tim of Chattanooga, and Marianne Heiskell and husband Jim of Knoxville; sister-in-law, Ruth Ramsey of Morristown; five grandchildren, Laura Mattocks and husband Bill, and Angela Sherrill and husband Glenn, all of Savannah, Ga., Ted Heiskell and wife Kelly of Karns, Brandon Hendrickson of Murfreesboro, and April Nitzsche and husband Kurt of Knoxville; and nine great-grandchildren, Libby, Meg, and Lexie Mattocks, Tilley and Wyatt Sherrill, Tyler and Braden Nitzsche, Kenzie Heiskell, and Taylor Greene; and numerous nieces and nephews who were special to her.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral will begin at 2 p.m. with Rev. Mark Walton officiating. The burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions in Mrs. Hendrickson’s memory to Glenwood Baptist Church, 200 N. Alabama Rd., Oak Ridge, TN 37830.
