The Oak Ridge Community Band will have its annual Christmas sing-along concert at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at the First Baptist Church.

The free concert will be in the church’s sanctuary, and there will be free refreshments at the end of the performance, a press release said.

“This concert is a good time to really get into the holiday spirit, relax, and enjoy hearing lovely holiday music performed by the band as well as have the opportunity to sing your favorite Christmas carols accompanied by the band,” the release said.

The Community Band is directed by band leader Dale Pendley and assistant conductor Lisa Michaels. The ensemble will play two Leroy Anderson tunes: the ever-popular “Sleigh Ride” and “A Christmas Festival,” which is a medley of familiar Christmas songs.

The audience will also hear the band perform Percy Grainger’s “The Sussex Mummers’ Christmas Carol” and Alfred Reed’s arrangement of Bach’s “Sheep May Safely Graze.” The band will play a number of Christmas carols, and the audience will be invited to “sing along.”

For more information about this popular Christmas event, visit the band’s website at www.orcb.org or call (865) 482-3568.

The First Baptist Church is in central Oak Ridge at Oak Ridge Turnpike and Lafayette Drive/New York Avenue.
