James ‘Jim’ H. Hudson

James “Jim” H. Hudson left this earth on Sunday, Sept. 30.

He was born April 18, 1929, in Oliver Springs, the son of Eli M. and Sallie “Chiles” Hudson.

He shared 58 years of his life with his loving wife, June “Jones” Hudson.

Jim was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Jim served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was retired from Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company, where he worked more than 33 years.

Jim adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Sallie Hudson; his brothers Harold Hudson and Ben Hudson; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Guy and Frankie Jones.

He will be greatly missed by his wife June; his son James G. and wife Lori, and son Paul and wife Natascha; and his grandchildren Olivia and Blake Hudson, and Zach, Shelby, and Dane Buffin. Jim is also survived by his sister Elizabeth Ann Scarborough of Knoxville; sisters-in-law Jan Hale, Jeanette Babb and husband Jim, Judy Slack and husband Charles, Jackie Maston and husband Dwight, all of Coalfield; and brother-in-law Joe Jones and wife Judy of Rockwood. He will also be missed by a host of loving nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and extended family and friends.

The family received friends and celebrated Jim’s life from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, with service following at Sharp Funeral Home at 209 Roane Street in Oliver Springs.

The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Estes Cemetery in Coalfield. Dr. Mike Jones will be officiating.
