A Clinton man collapsed while walking in shallow water at a Florida beach on Tuesday, and he died in a hospital later, the Panama City News Herald reported.
The Bay County Sheriff’s Office identified the man as Ronald Anderson, 68, of Clinton, the newspaper said.
Witnesses reported they saw Anderson fall face-first into the rough water. When he did not get up, they pulled him to shore.
The News Herald reported that double red flags were posted due to hazardous swimming conditions.
A second man appeared to become exhausted fighting a current at Panama City Beach, and witnesses also pulled him from the water, the newspaper said. That man is expected to recover.
