Work on a new sidewalk at Briarcliff Park is expected to be completed by Friday, a press release said.

The Oak Ridge Recreation and Parks Department had contracted with First Place Finish Inc. of Oak Ridge to build the sidewalk. It will connect the parking lot to the playground, making the playground more accessible, the release said.

Additional upgrades planned for the park include the installation of an accessible water fountain and a new swing set with an accessible swing seat. These upgrades will complement accessibility upgrades performed at the park in 2003.

The sidewalk construction was scheduled to begin Wednesday, Sept. 26. The schedule could due to bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances, the release said.

For more information, contact the Recreation and Parks Department at (865) 425-3450 or visit the city’s website at www.oakridgetn.gov.
