Ellen Denise Bryson

Ellen Denise Bryson passed away in her sleep at home in Oak Ridge in the early morning hours of Sept. 16 at the age of 47.

Ellen was born in Huntsville, Ala., on Jan. 28, 1965, but was raised in Oak Ridge.

She attended Glenwood Elementary, Jefferson Junior High School, and graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1983.

After attending Roane State Community College and Tennessee Technological University, she was married in 1987 and had a daughter Hannah in 1991. Her family relocated to Murphy, N.C., and Cleveland, Tenn., before moving to Dacula, Ga., in 1998.

Ellen recently moved back to Oak Ridge in January 2012, where she worked at Kroger and was pursuing a degree in medical transcription and coding.

Ellen loved to travel and was fortunate to be able to visit London, England, United Kingdom, and Ireland, where she fell in love with the people and country, and was active in researching her family lineage to 15th Century Scotland.

She loved her family and friends dearly, and was a wonderfully caring and tender soul.

She is survived by her daughter Hannah Reigle (James) and grandson Robert Reigle of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; parents Glenn and Sharon Bryson (McConkey) of Englewood, Tenn.; brother Russell Bryson (Stacy) of Lenoir City; sister Beth Horton (Conyers) of Jacksonville, Fla.; niece Grace Horton; nephew Sam Horton; uncle Daniel McConkey (Linda) of Athens, Tenn.; uncle Alan McConkey (Pat) of Cottage Grove, Tenn.; and very special friends Andrew Miller, Rebecca Baird, and August Caudle.

The remembrance service was held on Saturday, Sept. 22, at 11 a.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. The family received friends Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at Weatherford Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or The Butterfly Fund.
