Ilena “Guess” Crossno, age 82, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Saturday, Aug. 11, at her home.
Mrs. Crossno was born Feb. 20, 1930, in Elizabethton, Tenn. She moved to Oak Ridge in 1951, and following a stroke in 2005, she moved to Oliver Springs to make her home with a daughter, Brenda Duncan.
Ilena was a homemaker who loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, dancing, and riding the school bus that her daughter drove in Anderson County.
She was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Elizabethton.
Mrs. Crossno was preceded in death by her husband, John Lee Crossno Jr., and by her parents, Earnest Guess and Gladys Fair Guess.
She is survived by daughters, Brenda Duncan of Oliver Springs, Shannon Brummitt and husband Jim of Oliver Springs; by a son, Rodney Crossno and wife Patsy of Oak Ridge; by grandchildren, Angela Duncan of Clinton, Melissa Duncan of Oak Ridge, Jessica Landers and husband Brad of Lenoir City, Racheal Duncan of Oliver Springs, Teresa Brummitt and Chuck Lively of Oliver Springs, Gail Lane and husband Johnny of Clinton, Jamie Brummitt of Oliver Springs, Jason Crossno, Nang Crossno and wife Tracy, and Lisa Webb, all of Oak Ridge; by great-grandchildren, Sean Guy Richardson Jr. and Alex, Breanna Duncan, William Tyson Landers, Chance Leinart, Tanner Lively, Courtney and Chloe Brummitt, Seth, Darian, Daelynn and Riley Crossno; and by great-great-grandchildren, Braylee Brummitt and Kolton Richardson.
She is also survived by brothers, Carl “Buzzy” Guess and wife Charlene of Chuckey, Tenn., and Jerry Guess and wife, Brenda of Jonesboro; by a sister, Betty Taylor and husband Frank of Elizabethton; and by several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Aug. 15, between 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial and graveside services will be held Thursday, Aug. 16, at 2 p.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family expresses their gratitude to Quality Home Health Care, Denni and staff, and a great-grandson, Chance, for all the care provided during her illness.
