TLC reality show features Lake City family with 19 children

A Lake City family that includes 19 children and an Anderson County Commissioner will be featured in a TLC reality show that begins tonight at 9 p.m.

The show is called the “United Bates of America” and will feature Lake City’s Bates family, according to WYSH Radio in Clinton. The family’s oldest son, Zach Bates, is an Anderson County commissioner.

The show will follow the family and their children as they go through their daily lives. The idea for the Bates’ own reality show was born after they appeared on another reality show featuring the Duggar family of Arkansas, WYSH said.

This story brought to you through an agreement between Oak Ridge Today and WYSH. See more local news headlines on the WYSH website at http://www.wyshradio.com/local_news.html.

Talked with the father for an hour last week. Very smart, great personality, someone I could spend hours chewing the fat with.

I still giggle after meeting Mr. Bates at Noble Metals, He said he was trying to book plane tickets for 21 tickets to NYC to do the show ‘GOOD MORNING AMERICA’, and I thought I had a big family LOL, He is quite unique and I hope you all watch his show,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Some people are very negative about large families, but the families I have seen publicized, plus the one that I know, all seem to be raising good citizens. And we have a shortage of those.
