A Saturday morning breakfast in Oak Ridge will raise money for the Ulster Project, a program to foster peace in Northern Ireland.
The Irish Fry Breakfast starts at 8:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary’s cafeteria beneath the church at 327 Vermont Ave.
The Ulster Project of East Tennessee is an international and interdenominational program that has brought Protestant Christian and Catholic teenagers from Derry/Londonderry to East Tennessee to spend a summer month with Protestant Christian and Catholic teen hosts.
When the teens return to Northern Ireland, they use the knowledge from the experience, as well as their new friendships, to “help nourish the peace, which is now blossoming,” according to information supplied by Oak Ridge resident Tom Burns.
The Irish Fry is a way to raise the money needed to help bring the teens to the United States and fund program activities while they are in East Tennessee, Burns said.
The breakfast will feature eggs, tomatoes and authentic Irish sausages, bacon, and puddings. It costs $7 per person or $25 for a family.
