Jim Rackstraw Award

WSI Oak Ridge Deputy General Manager Jim Rackstraw, left, accepts an outstanding performance award from ESGR Area Chair John Dyess.

WSI Oak Ridge Deputy General Manager Jim Rackstraw was recently honored by the Tennessee Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve with the Outstanding Performance Award.

This new award is presented to volunteers whose efforts are important to the success of ESGR’s expanded mission of promoting support for their employees who serve in the Reserve Components and who work to find employment for Reserve personnel and their spouses, a WSI Oak Ridge press release said.

“Jim’s support has been outstanding in terms of recognizing supportive employers, educating employers about the law relating to the treatment of employees who serve, and offering support for our committee,” said John Dyess, Army Reserve ambassador, ESGR area chair, and president of the East TN Military Affairs Council.

Rackstraw was one of only 11 volunteers across the state recognized with this honor, the press release said.

“I am proud to be a part of this organization,” Rackstraw said.

WSI Oak Ridge has previously been recognized with several awards from ESGR and received its highest honor, the Pro Patria Award. The company was also recently honored by the Tennessee Veterans Business Association with its “Veterans Work” Award.

“WSI Oak Ridge is proud that nearly 50% of its workforce served our country,” the company said in the press release.

WSI Oak Ridge and its approximately 1,000 employees provide para-military protective forces for the Oak Ridge Reservation, which includes the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the East Tennessee Technology Park, the Federal Office Building Complex and the Y-12 National Security Complex.
