Schools in Clinton and Anderson, Knox, Loudon, Morgan, and Roane counties will be closed Wednesday due to weather.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, or VITA, program at 320 Robertsville Road in Oak Ridge will also be closed Wednesday due to the threat of a major winter storm.
Oak Ridge Schools dismissed early on Wednesday. The Anderson County Courthouse closed at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Anderson County Schools and its Central Office will be closed Thursday.
Federal employees of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge Office, the Oak Ridge National Laboratory Site Office, Office of Scientific and Technical Information, the Oak Ridge Environmental Management Site Office, the Oak Ridge Nuclear Energy Site Office, and the DOE Inspector General left work at 3 p.m. Wednesday because of the deteriorating weather conditions. They have a late arrival time of 10 a.m. on Thursday. Those employees were asked to check the weather hotline and the Oak Ridge Office’s Facebook page for any changes to reporting instructions for Thursday.
Anderson County CAC’s commodity distribution scheduled for Thursday in Anderson County has been canceled.
Oak Ridge General Sessions Court has canceled Thursday’s docket. The “Death by Chocolate” event that had been scheduled for Thursday featuring Body Farm founder Bill Bass in a fundraiser for Roane State Community College has been rescheduled to Feb. 20.

On Wednesday, the National Weather Service in Morristown said a major winter storm hitting the Southeast on Tuesday and Wednesday could dump three to five inches in the Tennessee Valley and southern Cumberland Plateau, and six to nine inches in the mountains. (See this story for more information.)
