Two dogs recently taken in by the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter have been diagnosed with canine distemper. The Animal Shelter was closed Friday and Saturday to allow for thorough cleaning of the facility. Dogs in the shelter are being tested to see if others have contracted the disease.

Test results are expected to be received by today (Tuesday, October 21). If none of the dogs test positive for canine distemper, the Animal Shelter will reopen at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

As a precaution, all animals brought into the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter will be vaccinated on arrival, the Oak Ridge Police Department said in a press release. Dogs with any kind of cough or nasal discharge will be kept separate from dogs available for adoption. [Read more…]

Arianna: In Greek, my name means chaste and very holy. But I don’t expect you to worship me! That’s my job to worship.

There are a lot of people that really like me here because I’m a beautiful little girl poodle mix. I’m really soft and sweet.

I got picked up running around in Clinton. My owner has a few days to find me yet. I will be available for adoption Saturday morning (September 27) if they don’t make it. Come early, cause it’s first come, first serve. [Read more…]

Adorable little Flower was returned by her owner Thursday. The return was not due to a problem with Flower, and we need to get her placed quickly in a good home. She is so sweet and cute.

My name is Flower, and even though I’m not Bambi’s little skunk, I know you’ll just get twitterpated over me! (That’s what everyone does in the spring, but summer is good, too!)

I’m a beautiful little girl Chihuahua mix with the personality of an angel. And I’m about five years smarter than the pups! I’m just as cute, sweet and cuddly as can be! [Read more…]
