Preparations for the 11th Annual Secret City Festival are under way, and applications are now available online.
Vendors and exhibitors can visit www.SecretCityFestival.com and download an application to become involved in this year’s event, which will take place June 21-22 at A.K. Bissell Park.
Applications are available for arts and crafts, exhibitors, and food vendors.

The board and staff of the Child Advocacy Center of Anderson County, or CACACT Inc., wish to express their great appreciation and gratitude to the many organizers and sponsors of the Secret City Half Marathon and the Secret City Run for Kids on Nov. 18. The race generated approximately $5,000 for CACACT Inc, which serves abused children living in Anderson County.
Specifically, the mission of CACACT Inc. is to combat severe physical and sexual abuse and resulting trauma by coordinating and providing services in a child friendly, safe, and nurturing environment. Our vision is that all children in Anderson County will be safe, families strengthened, victims healed from trauma, and offenders held accountable.

Hundreds of runners from 20 states will compete in the Secret City Half Marathon and Relay in Oak Ridge on Sunday, and some roads will be closed during the race.
As of Monday, more than 600 runners were already registered, according to information from organizer Frank Chmielewicz.
The 8 a.m. Sunday race starts and ends at the National Fitness Center on Briarcliff Avenue.

The race is being organized by the Oak Ridge Convention and Visitors Bureau with help from the City of Oak Ridge, a press release said. The course includes Oak Ridge streets and greenways, including Melton Lake Greenway on the city’s waterfront.
The event includes a Secret City Half Marathon 4 Kids. This free 13.1-mile fun run is for children from first through sixth grade. It encourages children to exercise by giving them a fun and exciting goal, the release said.
By Sunday morning, participants will have run or walked a total of 12 miles. On race day, children will run the last 1.1 mile. All participants get an official race number, race shirt, and goody bag. Medals will be given to those children who are pre-registered and cross the finish line. The children’s log can be downloaded at http://secretcityhalfmarathon.com/register/half-marathon-4-kids.

Race proceeds benefit the Anderson County Child Advocacy Center, which helps children who have been victims or witnesses to physical abuse, sexual abuse, or other crimes.
There will be a Saturday evening pasta dinner before the race to raise money for the Children’s Museum of Oak Ridge.

An agreement officially announced Friday morning clears the way for the historic K-25 North Tower to be demolished, calls for a replica equipment building and viewing tower, proposes a history center at a nearby city-owned fire station, and provides a $500,000 grant for the run-down Alexander Inn.
The agreement wraps up a decade of discussion over how to commemorate the historic contributions of K-25, which was built during World War II as part of the top-secret Manhattan Project, a federal program to make the world’s first atomic bombs.
Historic preservationists lobbied for years to save the North Tower, but concerns over safety, the deteriorated condition of the building, and cost appear to have made that impractical. Much of the rest of the K-25 Building has already been torn down.
Those who signed the agreement include the U.S. Department of Energy, the State Office of Historic Preservation, the federal Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, the City of Oak Ridge, and the East Tennessee Preservation Alliance.
