The Youth Showcase and Auction on Saturday will benefit the Child Advocacy Center of Anderson County.

It’s the second annual event, and it starts at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at the Grove Theater in Oak Ridge.

“Enjoy live performances by local talented youth, including musicians, singers, dancers, and a magician,” an event flyer said. “Matt Shafer Powell will be our master of ceremonies, and a delicious taco bar and desserts will be provided.” [Read more…]

Free singer-songwriter concert at Grove Theater on April 23

A free acoustic show at the Grove Theater on Thursday, April 23, will feature musicians from Maryland and North Dakota.

The headliner for the singer-songwriter evening will be the Maryland duo Jennifer and Scott Smith, performing as Naked Blue, a press release said.

“Whether as a duo or with full band, their folky pop performances wash an audience with a glow of emotions to relish in for days,” the press release said. “Both accomplished multi-instrumentalists, their music actually relies on strong writing skills and impeccable harmonies. Naked Blue’s trademark acoustic-pop sound in its simplest form is good harmonies, a catchy hook and Jen’s breathy voice that at once soothes and intrigues.” [Read more…]

Steve Rutledge and the Groove Evolution will open for The Marshall Tucker Band at the Secret City Festival on Friday, June 12, and Legacy will open for Three Dog Night on Saturday, June 13.

Steve Rutledge is a guitar virtuoso/vocalist/producer originally from Frankfort, Kentucky, organizers said. He Moved to Nashville in 1997 to pursue a dream of playing music professionally and producing new artists. His music is a mix of rock, rhythm and blues, classic rock, and country.

Organizers said Rutledge has played worldwide and shared the stage and/or opened for artists such as Trace Adkins, Reba, Emerson Drive, and Toby Keith, to name a few. [Read more…]

R&M Tribute Entertainment at Grove Theater April 2015

A concert at the Grove Theater in Oak Ridge on Saturday, April 4, will feature several performers.

Those scheduled to perform include Brandon E., Ronnie Miller, and special guest Erin Ott, 2015 NACMAI Classic Country Female Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year.

The concert starts at 7 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $15 for adults, $7.50 for children 6-12 years old, and free for kids 5 and under.

The Grove Theater is at 123 Randolph Road in Oak Ridge.

Three Dog Night will headline the Saturday night concert at the Secret City Festival in June.

The band’s hits include “Joy to the World,” “An Old Fashioned Love Song,” “Mama Told Me (Not To Come),” “Black and White,” “Shambala,” and “One.”

The Marshall Tucker Band will headline the Friday night concert at the Secret City Festival in June.

The band’s hits include “Heard It in a Love Song” and “Can’t You See.”

The Marshall Tucker Band started in Spartanburg, South Carolina, signed with Capricorn Records in 1972, and opened shows for The Allman Brothers in 1973, a press release said.

In 1974, the band began to headline its own shows across America due to the strong sales of its debut album, which went platinum, the release said. The Marshall Tucker Band toured rigorously over the years, playing sheds, stadiums, theaters, fairs, and festivals. [Read more…]

This year’s Spring Jamboree at Windrock Park north of Oliver Springs will include rides and competitions for ATVs and side-by-sides, and concerts, including one featuring Janelle Arthur, a top five performer on American Idol’s Season 12.

The Spring Jamboree is scheduled from April 16 through 18.

“The Spring Jamboree is a weekend full of adrenaline-pumping fun for everyone,” said Kira Smith-Ludwig, marketing manager for Windrock Park. “The jamboree’s numerous competitive events and guided rides are geared toward ATV and side-by-side riders, but anyone can come and watch the competitions and check out the shooting range and the concert.”

The competitive events include the ATV Rodeo; Windrock Wide Open, which is a three-lap race; drag races; the Windrock Challenge, which is an obstacle course race; a mud drag; a poker run; and a dash for cash just for the ladies. Bobby Osborne and Rocky Top X-Press will headline the inaugural Rocky Top Bluegrass Festival.

The festival is scheduled for 5:30 to 11 p.m. Friday, April 24, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at the George Templin Memorial Athletic Field located at 214 North Main Street in Rocky Top (formerly Lake City).

“Mr. Osborne contacted us because the Osborne Brothers were the first to perform and record ‘Rocky Top,’ and he wanted to be the first to perform the song in our newly named town of Rocky Top, Tennessee”, said Mike Lovely, Rocky Top mayor. “As a result of his interest, we decided to have a festival featuring some of the top groups in bluegrass.” [Read more…]
