Roane State art students earn awards

Roane State Community College art students earned awards for their work in the college’s Student Art Show, according to a press release from the college. The show is held at the end of the spring semester.

Students and their honors were:

  • Alli Schatzer of Kingston: best in show for “Untitled 2”
  • Stephany Huston of Ten Mile: Outstanding Achievement in Art Award
  • Susan Rosenbaum of LaFollette: Anne Powers Promise Award
  • Ivan Cornejo of Lenoir City: James Nathan Greene Memorial Scholarship, Art Spirit Award for “Avian Resurrection and Hot Sauce”
  • Breanna Wright of Harriman: honorable mention for “Wish You Were Here”
  • Elizabeth Long of Oliver Springs: honorable mention for “Midnight”
  • Emily Walkup of Harriman: third place for “Dallas”
  • Minh Nghiem of Oak Ridge: second place for “Breaking it Down”
  • Elizabeth Findley of Jamestown: first place for “Ocular Assault”

The art show is a yearly tradition at RSCC, and nearly $3,000 in prizes and scholarships are awarded.
