Robert Lee Earwood Jr., age 46, a resident of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, March 25, at his home in the Marlow Community of Anderson County.
Mr. Earwood was born June 17, 1968, in Ashville, North Carolina. He has lived in Anderson County for the past 24 years.
Robert served his country bravely in the United States Marine Corps during Desert Storm. While serving, he received several commendations including medals, ribbons, and citations.Â
Before his disability, he was employed as a carpenter/builder in the construction business for several years. He enjoyed outdoor activities including hunting and fishing. Additionally, he was an accomplished musician, and he most often played the bass guitar.
He was a faithful member of the Cedar Hill Baptist Church, where he taught the adult Bible school class for several years. He also sang in the church choir.
Robert is survived by his wife Penny Rochelle Kanipes Earwood of Clinton, by his parents Robert Lee Earwood Sr. and Patricia Lynn Earwood of Ashville, North Carolina, by two children Richie Earwood of Ashville, North Carolina, and a daughter, Ashton Earwood and husband Jonathon Templin of Oak Ridge, and by a granddaughter Sophie Templin.
Additionally he is survived by two brothers, Timothy Earwood and wife Jill, and Billy Earwood and wife Jamie; by two sisters, Lynette Antle, and Stephanie Earwood, all of Ashville, North Carolina. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters at Cedar Hill Baptist Church, by several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends.
The family received friends between 5 and 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral followed at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with pastor Joe Copeland and pastor Randy Comer officiating. Burial and graveside services with full military honors were held Sunday, March 29, at 2 p.m. at the Cedar Hill Cemetery.
