Mitchell Jerry Davis, age 57, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, December 16, at Methodist Medical Center.
He was born April 13, 1957, in Oliver Springs, the son of Charles Perry Davis and Louise Echols Davis.
Mr. Davis was the owner of Davis Dry Wall. He enjoyed spending time with his family and particularly his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Harold, Clifford, Kenny, Dale, Jack, Ronnie and Dennis and sister, Glenda.
He is survived by wife of 32 years, Elaine Ray Davis; son, Mitchell Jerry Davis Jr. and his girlfriend Nicole Bass of Clinton; daughter, Melissa Matheson and husband Junior of Wartburg; brothers, Carl Ray Davis and wife Mary of Kingston, Alfred Davis and his girlfriend Susie, and Wayne Davis and his wife Terry, all of Clinton; sisters, Joanne Lampkin and husband Howard of Knoxville, and Judy Hypes and husband Howard of West Virginia; 17 grandchildren, Alana Ellis, Eric Ellis Jr., Makayla Ellis, Levi Matheson, Malaki Matheson, Marissah Davis, Danielle Davis, Sophia Davis, Mitchell Davis III, Harley Bass, Quinton Copeland, Dylan Davis, Bryson Rice, Breanna Frost, Braylee Frost, Kylie Gillis, and Hayden Ferguson; nephews, Joe, Davis, Darrell Davis, Pat Davis, and Marky Davis; sisters-in-law, Barbara Fox and husband David, and Wanda Sue Ray and brother-in-law, Robert Ray, all of Clinton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family, including Jennifer Fox and husband Jonus Frost, Rebecca Fox and David Allen Fox, whom he thought of as his children.
The family received friends on Thursday, December 18, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral followed at 8 p.m. with Rev. Allen Crowe officiating. Family and friends will meet on Friday at 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park for a graveside service.
