Don Paul Williams, age 79, a resident of Coalfield, passed away Friday, November 21, 2014, at his home.
Mr. Williams was born December 23, 1934, in Caryville, Tennessee. He grew up and lived in Campbell County before moving to Clinton, where he continued to live until his move to Coalfield.
Don served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. While serving, he received several medals, ribbons, citations, and commendations.
Don was retired from Universal Management in Atlanta. He was previously employed at Fox Chevrolet in Oak Ridge.
His greatest enjoyment was coaching football. He began his coaching career at Seymour, and he later coached at Sunbright, Coalfield, and Oliver Springs.
Following his move to Coalfield, he became a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Williams and Asilee Henegar Williams; by a brother, Clarence “Bubba” Williams; and by three sisters, Thelma, Kathy, and Louise.
He is survived by his wife, Jayleen Adcock Williams of Coalfield; by daughters, Donna Mays and husband Ken of Caryville, and Tracy Monhollen and husband Ryan of Knoxville; and by step-children, Trina Frazier and husband Scott of Dandridge, Tony Robinson of Oak Ridge, and Cristi Altum and husband Josh of Briceville.
Additionally, he is survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family, and a host of special friends.
A private burial and graveside service will be held in Lafollette.
