The Children’s Museum of Oak Ridge will join in Nickelodeon’s Worldwide Day of Play with children’s activities throughout the afternoon Wednesday, September 24. Children may join in the following activities:
- Scavenger Hunts in the Kids Go Green! Environmental Center & Garden, 3-3:30 p.m., for ages 6-10.
- Pumpkin Relay, 3-3:15 p.m. for ages 3-5, and 4-4:15 p.m. for ages 5-8.
- Parachute Game, 3:30-3:50 p.m. for ages 3-5, and 4:20-4:40 p.m. for ages 5-8.
While visiting exhibits, children may count the scarecrows and report back to the front desk how many they found.
Nickelodeon goes completely dark for three hours on Worldwide Day of Play, taking programming off the air on all of its channels, and shutting down its websites to reinforce one simple message: Get up, get out, and go play. These efforts have resulted in thousands of events across the country encouraging millions of kids to be active and pursue healthy lifestyles.
Day of Play events are free with admission. General admission to the Children’s Museum is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors ages 62 and older, and $5 for children ages 3-18. Admission is free for children under 3 and museum members. For more information, call the Children’s Museum at (865) 482-1074 or see the museum’s web site at www.childrensmuseumofoakridge.org.
